How to Subscribe to an ICS Calendar on Android

The Google Calendar app on Android has no “add by URL” option. You can still subscribe to any ICS feed, including your tvcal TV calendar. You just do the first step on the web.

Step 1: Add the calendar on the web

1. Copy your calendar link (in tvcal: Subscribe in Calendar → copy link).
2. Open calendar.google.com in a browser. On a phone, use the browser's “Desktop site” option.
3. Click the + next to “Other calendars” and choose From URL.
4. Paste the link and click Add calendar.

Step 2: Turn on sync in the Android app

1. Open the Google Calendar app and go to Settings.
2. Tap the new calendar under your Google account.
3. Turn on Sync.

Using a different calendar app?

Some Android calendar apps, and helper apps such as ICSx⁵, can subscribe to an ICS link directly and keep it synced without a Google account.
