There are three main ways to keep up with new episodes. Which one is best depends on how much you want to do besides seeing air dates.
1. Tracker apps
Best if you want watch history, stats and community features.
- Trakt: detailed watch history, automatic logging from media centres, large community. Free with limits; iCal calendar feeds come with VIP, a paid subscription.
- Simkl: tracks TV, movies and anime. Its iCal calendar feeds are part of its paid VIP plan.
- SeriesGuide: a free, open-source Android app that can sync with Trakt.
- Serializd: a free, social app for rating and reviewing shows and seasons.
TV Time used to be a popular choice here, but it shut down on July 15, 2026. See what to use instead of TV Time.
2. Streaming-service reminders
Streaming apps can remind you about their own shows. The catch is that each one only covers its own catalogue, so you end up with reminders scattered across several apps.
3. Calendar feeds
A calendar feed puts every show, from every network and service, into the calendar you already use. You subscribe once and it keeps itself up to date.
What to look for
- Covers all networks and streaming services, not just one
- Updates automatically when air dates change
- Works with the calendar you already use
- Doesn't require yet another app
How tvcal fits
tvcal is a calendar feed for TV. Search for a show, add it, and subscribe once in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. It's free for up to 3 shows; Pro is a one-time US$9.90 for unlimited shows.
